DefCon 15 in Las Vegas, Death Valley
I just got back yesterday from Las Vegas for DefCon 15. I had a blast between exploring up and down the Vegas strip each night, enjoying the atmosphere and people, seeing a _lot_ of interesting talks at DefCon, going to Cirque du Soleil: Mystère at Treasure Island (which blew me away; I had employee seats up in the light booth thanks to a friend of a friend that works there), and seeing the works of many master artists such as Cezanne, Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and others at the Guggenheim exhibit at the Venetian casino. All that was topped off by driving home via Death Valley at the end (yesterday) in a tour de force leaving Vegas on the I-95 and hitting the I-190 through the Valley. All in all, a very overwhelming trip and I can’t wait to go again next DefCon.
About 2,000 hand blown glass flowers on the ceiling of the Bellagio by artist Dale Chihuly, a work entitled “Fiori di Como”.

The executive suites on the top floor of the Riviera (found while sneaking around on the first night)

Caesar in front of his casino:

A fountain and the Venetian tower

A panel of Feds at “Meet the Feds” during DefCon which was a very interesting talk. They are great people:

A Fed from the panel above getting married for the closing ceremonies of DefCon. Hilarious and awesome! A federal agent married at DefCon, who would have thunk it?

My brother with a half-yard margarita while walking down the strip. Are those police behind him?

A caboose from the turn of the previous century in Rhiolite (a ghost town in Death Valley)

I’ve seen lot of pictures of these statues before and just happened to stumble upon them unexpectedly in Death Valley. It’s the artist’s (Albert Szukalski, who apparently died back in 2000) interpretation of the Last Supper:

You got a great pic of the glass work. I have seen that artist’s work in 1 or 2 museums on the East Coast. I think one exhibit had a lot of seashell like objects and another had a lot of globes. Very beautiful work. Neat pics from Death Valley as well. I’ve never been there. Josh tried to describe some of the places, but your pics do a much better job of capturing their essence! Glad you guys had a fun trip
