Los Angeles/Coachella/Death Valley

Here are some of the pictures from the journey (sorry, I know there are quite a few. Hopefully you have a decent connection or you might have to wait a minute, I optimized them as much as possible without forsaking all quality):

Los Angeles:

Downtown:

Random cool building:

The AT&T Building, sporting the Death Star logo:

Coachella:

My camping and proof of age wristbands:

A city of tents begins to form:

The end of the day before Coachella, the city is half way built:

Image from an art installation on inflatable screen:

A dancing frog during a DJ set:

Sonic Youth, my favorite performance at the festival:

Satellite Party, with Perry Ferrell on vocals (yes, they played a Jane’s Addiction song: Stop):

This person seems to have a soul being beamed into her head:

A cop on the scene of the campground when it was stormed due to a drum circle. They were quickly kicked out by the crowd/coachella staff which was awesome:

The oasis of spraying water and vaudeville cirque in the middle of Coachella, put on by The Do Lab (this was very refreshing to have situated in the center of the festival, I spent hours here cooling off):

The Oasis Dome:

One of the many Do Lab pods, good for shade during the day and resting/hiding at night:

Rage Against the Maching (also search for “rage coachella” on youtube to see more, specifically “Wake Up” when Zack proclaimed that the current administration should be charged with war crimes and “tried, hung and shot”):

Image of the Tesla Coil (they had two of them this year!):

Time lapse of the two coils:

Willie fucking Nelson:

Death Valley:

The Devil’s Golf Course:

Badwater Basin, lowest point in the Western Hemisphere, and the ground is covered in salt:

Yeah, that is definitely some bad water…

Farther out into the Basin:

Artist’s Palette, so named for the variety of minerals enriching the rock and creating a palette of amazing colors:

An awesome, homemade bag-o-ice vending machine:

Dried mud out on the dunes:

A view from the Transverse Dunes, looking at the (much larger) Star Dunes:

Obligitory Death Valley sign photo:

I forget where this is, I think it’s called the Ricardo Campground or something:

Another from the same place:

Eerie windmills on the way home:

  1. may I just say WOW! – are these giant teslas.
    Were these LAPD types??
Was the comment meaning willie was great? The dv pictures are awesome!

  2. Willie was good, not that I’m a huge fan or anything but he fit right in with the atmosphere and besides, he’s a legend.

The cops were really cool. They weren’t there to “get” anybody. If people got messed with by them, there was definitely a reason.

Last year, they only had one Tesla, this year they added the second one. Quite a noise they make too with all that voltage going through the air molecules. I got video of them I’ll show you sometime. That was definitely one of my favorite things there.

  3. oh god!!!!!! i didn’t kow your mom checks out your journal????!!! ahahahahaha, cindy is the coooooolist!!!!

god, now i really wish i could’ve gone with you …. wahhhhhhhhhhhhh. oh erll, shrugs.

“This person seems to have a soul being beamed into her head:”

okay, that’s a little too awesome … these pictures came out really great, i didn’t know Cotchella was that intresting … i mean i did … but seeing it from your perspective makes it all the more intresting i suppose.

so, what is the do lab? i mean what were the pods about? and was dresden dolls there, because that ;ooks like them on stage …

    and

the dancing frog is the old warner brothers mascot back in the day:

i sure would love to wonder death valley some time, i guess i didn’t see the jist of it when i went out there with jesse, mineral deposite hills???!!!! and Ricardo Campground ??? hmmm …. vert cool, though highly arid.
    be ding dah, bad joke.

i think the images that i liked the best was the downtown la and the Devil’s Golf Course – what i name huh? kinda like how i always thought the power plant being called diablo was i a little satiric.

anyway, nevermind with the do lab – i just checked out the link you put up. god i wish i could’ve gone to the santa barbara green fest.

HAVE YOU LISTENED THE http://www.lightninginabottle.org/ RADIO? they’ve got some cool music on there, speaking of which i tried to login to the disconformtiy radio but i can’t remeber either my name or password or either. do you know it?

ah! just reading their page makes me hate nd and want to go run awat to santa barbara!!!!!! shit – soon i swear. too bad i was an untalented average dud head. okay, anyway. this is some super cool stuff you captured here, thankyou for the inspiration.
