The Kombucha Experiment #2

Well, the first batch turned out ok. Not great but not bad for a first attempt. It was a little bit too sweet still but I thought it came out ok. I’d like to try something besides Mason jars for curing since they don’t seem to hold all the fizz (thanks Jim). Also, the first attempt was with green tea as a base, this time I am using Oolong which seems to be a much more suitable flavor. I ended up getting a baby mushroom off of the first batch and it’s definitely doing well in the new Oolong batch. I also put in the mother for good measure, maybe it will finish faster. Also, I cut down sugar to 6oz. from 8oz. which I used with the green tea. Here are more eerie pictures from after about 24 hours of the new batch. I can’t believe the amount of growth in such a short time!

  2. Now You’re looking in
    while I’m looking out,
    Are you really finding
    what this is all about?
    It’s thin in the air
    and it bounces about,
    Now I’m looking in
    while you’re looking out

  3. alright, i don’t know about all that poetry over some tea – but i’m tellin’ yeah – this looks like some crazy stuff contucting electrical currant!

hey, which gives me an idea that is absolutely irrelivant (as per’usual), you should experiment with contucting electricity from a lemon and or potato and take crazy pictures. how do you think one could do that? … i’ll have to look up the specks of this anomalous-body-of-acidic nature … which reminds me, in the book i’ve been recently reading – catch-22, the chaplin thinks about his wife and children being killed everyday in horrible ways. ha! ha! one of the ways, i thought was really intresting: he thinks of his wife and children leaving the gas stove on or something with the water heater, and the house goes up in flames while they all fry to death and something involved with electricution beause (here’s my long winded point … ) HUMAN BODIES CONDUCT ELECTRICITY! huh … i though, intresting …
